Thanks to everyone who recently voted to help us choose a logo for this year’s celebration of 25 years of Landcare as a national program.
The logo pictured here was the clear winner and we are currently working on developing specially branded resources for the Landcare community to use to promote their events as part of this very special year. We will make these available shortly on our website. The logo will also be made available soon for groups to use until the end of the year.
To mark this significant milestone for Landcare, we will be rolling out a number of activities and programs this year, which will not only celebrate the fantastic achievements of the last 25 years, but support and promote the future of the community and the next generation of Landcarers.
We will be launching three grants programs over the next few months that will provide funding to 75 Landcare and Junior Landcare projects and encourage groups to attract new volunteers to their Landcare Week events and activities.
As a result of funding from the Department of the Environment, we will be encouraging the community to nominate those very special Landcarers who have been involved in the movement for 25 years or more, into the 25 years of Landcare Honour Roll. We will also be asking Landcarers to take a photo that shows what Landcare means to them on a special day in July, and the photos submitted will be included in a publication – A Day in the Life of Landcare – which will provide a snapshot of what Landcare is and what it means to those involved, in 2014.
The National Landcare Conference and Awards, taking place in Melbourne, from September 17th to 19th, will be the key knowledge sharing and celebratory event for this special year, and we are currently seeking abstracts for presentations at the conference, based on the theme of Celebrating our history, growing our future. Submissions close on May 4th and guidelines can be found by visiting www.landcareonline.com.au/nationalconference.

Here’s to a great year, and indeed to the next 25!
