Exciting Times Ahead: A New South Wales Branch of AABR!

Dec 18, 2024

The time has come for New South Wales to stand tall as a leader in bush regeneration. With a rich history of environmental stewardship, the formation of a dedicated New South Wales branch of AABR in February 2025 promises to amplify AABR’s efforts, build stronger communities, and create lasting change across the state.

Much of the groundwork is already in place, building on decades of collective experience and success. The proposed New South Wales branch will play a crucial role in liaising with local and state governments, securing grants, and leading localized projects that resonate with the unique environmental challenges of our region.

Branch activities can include:
• Hosting Walk and Talk events, where members can engage in hands-on learning and share knowledge about bush regeneration techniques. These events will be more than just educational—they’ll foster social connections and create a sense of community among members.
• Holding physical and online meetings* to discuss new initiatives, project proposals, and ongoing collaboration opportunities.
• Launching targeted awareness-raising campaigns to increase membership and participation across the state.

Collaboration is key to success. Conversations have started with state-based environmental NGOs. Working together, the focus will be on securing the necessary grants and building social capital to ensure our branch is not only sustainable but thriving.
With the support of the National Board, a strong foundation of existing initiatives, and a clear focus on community and education, the New South Wales branch of AABR is set to become a keystone resource for bushcare and landcare in NSW.

If you are interested in sharing your thoughts about the branch and its activities, to inform the 2025 goals and terms of reference, a survey will be circulated to interested members in early January. Please RSVP to whatson@aabr.org.au to receive the survey.

Join the informal discussion at AABR Fest 2 to discuss how to develop this branch to better meet the unique environmental challenges in NSW.

This event will provide an opportunity to connect with like-minded people, share ideas, and contribute to shaping the future direction of bush regeneration in the state. If you are unable to make this event, please register your interest via whatson@aabr.org.au to receive updates on future online meetings.
