Lunch and Learn Webinar – Celebrate the Science of Landcare!

Jan 28, 2025

Get ready to dive into the wonders of science woven into Landcare with our February webinar, part of our Lunch and Learn series!

National Science Week is your chance to join a nationwide celebration of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics— held every August. With over 2,000 events across the country, there’s something for everyone, from school kids to community members of all ages.

Why Participate?
This annual event is a fantastic way to shine a light on the science behind Landcare’s environmental restoration efforts. It’s an opportunity to inspire, educate, and engage with volunteers while showcasing the amazing work being done in our communities.

How Can You Get Involved?
Landcare groups across Australia are already making Science Week a highlight by hosting events, partnering with local organisations, or contributing to broader community activities. Need some ideas? Here are a few:

• Partner with schools: Collaborate with local schools on STEM career talks or hands-on Science Fairs.
• Library events: Team up with libraries to host talks with scientists or showcase Landcare achievements.
• Citizen Science workshops: Share apps and tools for volunteer-powered research during evening or weekend sessions.
• Bioblitz: Organize a Bioblitz to survey local biodiversity.
• Endangered species talks: Host scientists to discuss the latest on endangered species and conservation programs.
• Walkshops: Lead guided tours through Landcare regeneration sites with expert commentary.

Need inspiration? As the Border Ranges and Richmond Valley Landcare Network put it:

“This was an excellent opportunity for BRRVLN to be involved with National Science Week and to engage with our wider community in promoting Citizen Science as a key component in conserving threatened species.”

Special Lunch & Learn Event
