We are very excited to welcome Shaun Branden to the National Landcare Network team to work with the Landcare Facilitator Program helping to facilitate engagement with First Nations communities. Shaun recently worked with the Aboriginal Lands Trust where he was responsible for managing Indigenous Protected Areas in South Australia.

The Indigenous Biosecurity Traineeship initiative invests in biosecurity and fosters professional growth and community engagement for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people while strengthening connections between communities and government stakeholders.

The formation of a dedicated New South Wales branch of AABR in February 2025 promises to amplify AABR’s efforts, build stronger communities, and create lasting change across the state. Much of the groundwork is already in place, building on decades of collective experience and success. The proposed New South Wales branch will play a crucial role in liaising with local and state governments, securing grants, and leading localized projects that resonate with the unique environmental challenges of our region.

The National Landcare Conference is Australia’s largest knowledge-sharing and networking Landcare event and will be happening Sunday, 21 September to Wednesday, 24 September 2025 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland.

The National Landcare Network has welcomed Kim Boswell to the team, as Volunteer Landcare Facilitator, bringing extensive experience in both local and global community engagement and Landcare. Kim will be working alongside Jen Quealy to support states and territories in increasing volunteer participation in Landcare activities and to assist in building meaningful partnerships and facilitating knowledge exchange across the diverse network of Landcare communities.

The National Landcare Network held our Annual General Meeting last Friday 22 November via Teams, with individuals in attendance from across all states and territories. We warmly welcomed newly elected members to our Board of Directors.

As part of the National Landcare Facilitator Program also known as the Strengthen Landcare – Deliver Nature Repair Program, the NLN held its inaugural First Nations Community of Practice (CoP) meeting on September 17th, via zoom.
