Landcare NT Shines with Award-Winning Achievements in 2025

Dec 1, 2025

Landcare NT has had an extraordinary year, receiving multiple awards that highlight their strength in driving collaboration, innovation, and community spirit across the Northern Territory.

At the 2025 Territory NRM Awards, Landcare NT and Territory Native Plants were recognised with the Best Collaboration in Natural Resource Management Award for their work on the Top End Native Eco-Fair (Eco-Fair). What began as a modest gathering has grown into a vibrant annual festival, thanks to the dedication of volunteers, local organisations, and passionate educators. The Eco-Fair now brings together more than 25 partners and attracts over 3,000 attendees, offering interactive education, cultural demonstrations, native plant giveaways, and hands-on activities to inspire the next generation of environmental champions.

The Eco-Fair was born out of a shared vision to showcase the incredible biodiversity of the Top End, provide practical knowledge to help locals protect and restore native ecosystems, and inspire children and young people to become future environmental leaders. Its strength lies in the network of partners who contribute their expertise each year, making it a shining example of how Landcare NT brings people together to achieve more than any single group could accomplish alone.

Adding to this success, Landcare NT was celebrated at the Radicle Science Awards NT, where the Eco-Fair won Best Science Week Event and the organisation’s BioEd Program received the STEM Outreach Provider Award. These honours reflect Landcare NT’s commitment to empowering schools, communities, and local groups to take meaningful action for the environment, while making science and sustainability accessible and engaging for all Territorians.

As a member of the National Landcare Network, Landcare NT plays a vital role in supporting grassroots Landcare groups across the Territory. Their work includes capacity building, advocacy, community engagement, and forging strong collaborations with government agencies, schools, and First Nations communities. By working alongside Traditional Owners, Landcare NT integrates cultural knowledge and practices into land management, ensuring Indigenous voices and leadership are central to protecting biodiversity and sustaining healthy landscapes.

Looking ahead, the recognition at both the Territory NRM Awards and the Radicle Science Awards is a testament to the power of collaboration. With strong partnerships and enthusiastic community support, the Eco-Fair is set to continue growing, inspiring thousands more to take action for the environment. Landcare NT’s success in 2025 reminds us that when communities come together, they can achieve extraordinary outcomes for nature and people alike — building a stronger, more connected future for the Northern Territory.
