National Facilitator Program – Launching the Two-Way Initiative

Jul 7, 2025

The National Landcare Network is pleased to announce the launch of the Two-Way Initiative—a collaborative journey between Landcare and the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC). Last year, we formalised our partnership through a Statement of Collaboration, signed by ILSC CEO and former NLN Chair Louise Duxbury. This statement outlines our shared vision and commitment to working together to care for Country.

Through the NLN’s National Facilitator Program our next step is to identify two regional areas that will serve as demonstration sites for best-practice collaboration between Landcare and First Nations groups. These sites will showcase how we can walk together to heal and restore landscapes at scale. This milestone will be discussed at the upcoming CEO Group meeting in August.

As part of this initiative, we’re also developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) toolkit and a Natural Resource Management (NRM) co-design guide. These resources will be shaped through on-ground work in the selected regions and will provide practical guidance on building respectful, enduring partnerships with First Nations communities—grounded in shared knowledge, mutual respect, and tangible action.
