NLN Members Council Reconvenes: Shaping Landcare’s Future from the Ground Up

Dec 12, 2025

The National Landcare Network’s Members Council reconvened last week after an extended break, reaffirming its role as the united voice of community Landcare. This forum brings together State and Territory Landcare Organisations (STLOs) to represent 6,500 independent groups across Australia in national policy discussions.

As the only network of its kind, the Members Council plays a critical role in shaping policy and providing a direct channel for the Australian Government to engage with the Landcare community.

One member summed up the key purpose of the Council beautifully: ‘The Members Council gives Landcare a genuinely national platform for influence, helping the movement speak with unity, act with intention and collaborate in ways that reduce duplication and increase impact.’

Representatives from across the country met online via Zoom over two days to engage in facilitated discussions about how the Members Council could operate to best achieve the goals of the NLN’s current government funded programs and deliver value for community Landcare.

The NLN’s CEO Michelle Young reflected, ‘Its wonderful to have the opportunity to meet. This forum brings together the community and executive leaders of the National Landcare Network, and Im very optimist about what we can achieve together.’
