Powerful Voices from the Frontlines of Landcare: CEO Panel Discussions from the National Landcare Conference

Oct 31, 2025

In September, the National Landcare Conference brought together a vibrant mix of landcarers, farmers, First Nations leaders, scientists, and environmental advocates from across Australia. Among the standout moments was a powerful and inspiring panel discussion featuring the CEOs of the National Landcare Network’s State and Territory member peak bodies. These insightful conversations, now available to view online, offered a deep dive into the leadership and collaborative spirit that drives Landcare across the country.

The two-part panel, titled “Supporting the Frontlines of Landcare – The State and Territory Peak Bodies at Work,” took place on Monday, 22 September and highlighted how these peak bodies support over 6,500 groups and 160,000 members nationwide. Their work enables grassroots efforts to scale up and deliver meaningful outcomes for biodiversity, climate resilience, and community wellbeing.

The first session, Foundations of Community Landcare, explored how member-based models foster strong relationships with local groups and volunteers, ensure governance and accountability, and deliver lasting benefits for people and ecosystems. View the recording here.

The second session, Data, Impact, and Scaling Up, focused on how real-time data collection supports agile strategy adaptation, how local initiatives can be scaled to achieve broader impact, and what resources and partnerships are needed to grow Landcare’s reach. View the recording here.

These sessions offered a rare opportunity to hear directly from the leaders shaping the future of Landcare. Their insights underscored the importance of member-based models, community empowerment, and strategic collaboration in addressing today’s environmental challenges. Whether you’re a long-time Landcare volunteer or new to the movement, these panels will leave you inspired and informed about the vital role of NLN’s member peak bodies in building a more sustainable and resilient Australia.
