Regeneration in Action: ACT Environmental Volunteers Conference 2025

Jul 1, 2025

This August, Landcare ACT invites environmental volunteers, community leaders, and changemakers from across the region to gather on Ngunawal Country in Canberra for a two-day celebration of regeneration, connection, and community action.

The 2025 ACT Environmental Volunteers Conference, held on 8–9 August, is set to be an inspiring event that brings together passionate individuals and groups working to restore ecosystems, reconnect with Country, and revitalise the volunteer movement.

A Two-Day Journey of Learning and Connection

Day 1 – Friday 8 August: Field Trips Across the ACT

Participants will hop on guided bus tours to explore some of the region’s most inspiring environmental sites. With eight unique field trip options, attendees can choose to visit one or two locations, meet local volunteers, and witness regeneration in action. These immersive experiences are designed to spark ideas, share knowledge, and showcase the power of community-led conservation.

Day 2 – Saturday 9 August: Conference Day at the University of Canberra

Held at the Ann Harding Conference Centre, the second day features a full program of keynote talks, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities. Topics will include:

  • Regenerating ACT’s volunteer base
  • Climate resilience and conservation
  • Pathways from volunteering to environmental careers
  • Soil regeneration and landscape rehydration
  • Citizen science and nature connection

The conference will also feature a Community Hub, where volunteer groups and supporting organisations can showcase their work through posters and displays, creating a vibrant space for sharing stories and building partnerships.

A Celebration of Community and Country

With the theme of Regeneration, this year’s conference is more than just a gathering — it’s a call to action. It’s about renewing our ecosystems, restoring our soils, and reimagining how we work together to care for the land. Delivered with the support of the ACT Government, the event honours the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Ngunawal people, and all First Nations communities who continue to guide and inspire environmental stewardship.

Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer, a community organiser, or someone just beginning your journey in environmental care, this conference offers a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and be part of a growing movement for change.
