Welcoming Bibi Barba – First Nations Facilitator

Mar 12, 2025

National Landcare Network is excited to welcome Bibi Barba to the team in the new role of First Nations Landcare Facilitator. Bibi will be helping to connect Indigenous communities, experts, and Landcarers to cultural land management practices and the latest research in natural resource management. Bibi’s work will support cross-cultural knowledge sharing, closing the gap initiatives, professional development, and cultural exchange, and help foster collaboration in on-ground Landcare and NRM projects.

Bibi Barba is a proud Aboriginal saltwater woman and recognized cultural leader, belonging to the Darumbal Qld, Darkinjung, Cammerygal, Gadigal, and Yuin NSW tribal clans. With a rich artistic career spanning over 35 years, her artwork has garnered international acclaim. Beyond her artistic achievements, Bibi is a leading international expert in Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP), empowering and educating Aboriginal artists on their rights within the contemporary art field. Notably, she was an Australian delegate at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva on May 28, 2024, where she contributed to the historic treaty aimed at preventing the misappropriation of traditional knowledge, including “biopiracy.”

If you would like to learn more about Bibi and the exciting work she is doing she can be reached at bibi.barba@nln.org.au.
