The National Feral Cat and Fox Management Coordination Program is running two free day-long online forums dedicated to sharing knowledge on effective fox and feral cat management on 20th and 21st August. This will be a fantastic opportunity to engage experts, learn about new tools, and hear about case studies from around Australia.

This week marks both Loneliness Awareness Week (4–10 August) and Landcare Week — a timely reminder of the power of connection, community, and care. With new research showing that one in three Australians feel lonely, it’s more important than ever to create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued. The theme of Loneliness Awareness Week, “Moments Matter,” encourages us to reflect on how connection is built — not through grand gestures, but through small, meaningful interactions. A shared laugh, a group activity, or simply showing up can be the spark that helps someone feel they belong. Landcare offers exactly that.

A new national survey “Tell Us What Matters” by Landcare Australia, the National Landcare Network and the State and Territory Landcare Organisations tells a compelling story of the increased connection to community through active engagement with landcare activities. Overwhelmingly, the data shows a significant number of Australians reporting new friendships and feeling a sense of belonging within their community.
